At least 7 out of every 10 people would tell you that they are not happy with their body fat percentage, if you asked them. Body fat is an issue for most people in the developed world as well as the developing world and it is a very sensitive topic to some; particularly among the elite and famous.
Health wise, body fat should be paid attention to because of the risks involved in being overweight. Excess body fat accounts for more diseases today than it did in the past. For example, there is a cause of cirrhosis of the liver which is called Cryptogenic cirrhosis mainly because you could not pin point the particular cause. However, a few years ago, it was found out that this type of cirrhosis was caused by excess body fat. It starts as steato-hepatitis which then progresses to cirrhosis if the patient does nothing to reduce his/her weight. This is just one out of hundreds of serious health risks of excess body fat and this begs the question: what are we doing ensure that we do not partake of the consequences of excess body fat. What are the daily diet and physical habits that we engage in to prevent these consequences?
